The Tourism Guidance department was established in 2019 and admitted its first students in the 2019-2020 academic year. In our department, which accepts students based on foreign language scores, preparatory education is optional and the total education period is 4 years. Although the language of instruction in the department is Turkish, English foreign language education is given as a compulsory course throughout the education period. In addition to English, German and Russian courses are available as elective foreign languages. During the four-year undergraduate program, theoretical and practical courses on tourist guidance from basic to advanced level are given as elective and compulsory courses. Students who successfully complete all courses in the program (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS) and fulfill the internship requirement (60 days) are awarded a Tourism Guidance diploma. Students who will graduate from the program can primarily work as national or regional tourist guides in parallel with the education they have received. Can be employed in relevant fields within the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. They can work as promotion guides in private museums. They are qualified to work as employees and managers in all departments of travel agencies. They can be employed as ground handling personnel at airports. They can work in the operations and ticket sales departments of airlines. Those who get sufficient scores from the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS) can also be employed as civil servants in other public institutions. Those who want to pursue an academic career can work as lecturers in departments of any university related to their field, provided they meet the necessary conditions and obtain the necessary scores from central exams such as ALES, YÖKDİL, YDS and, if desired, have industry experience.
The founding purpose of the Tourism Guidance department is to train professional tourist guides and manager candidates who are fluent in foreign languages and have a Certificate (licensed) of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, who will inform local and foreign tourists about the natural and cultural assets of our country.
To provide the sector with tourist guides who can convey the rich Anatolian cultural and natural heritage that shapes world history to visitors in the best way and can obtain Professional Tourist Guide licenses in different languages with the approval of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. To conduct scientific research in the field of Tourism and Tourist Guidance. To be a pioneer and helper in spreading tourism awareness, culture and nature conservation, and hospitality in society.
